Shay Stevens
NPR Newscaster Shay Stevens writes and delivers five-minute round-ups of national and international news, aired on more than 790 stations to 25.5 million listeners each week.
Stevens joined NPR in 1990, as a part-time newscaster for Weekend All Things Considered, while working fulltime as a news director for WCBM in Baltimore, and later as an anchor/reporter for USA Today Sky Radio. She has also done freelance work for CNN and as a stringer for UPI and AP.
Stevens began her radio career with a brief stint in Sioux City, Iowa. She then moved to Philadelphia where she worked as an anchor/reporter at WHAT; then as city hall reporter/anchor, assignment editor, an entertainment editor for WFIL-AM; as an anchor for WUSL-FM; and as an anchor/reporter for WCAU-AM, where she also occasionally fed stories to CBS radio.
Stevens was also an anchor/reporter for WILM in Wilmington, Delaware and at WEBR in Buffalo, New York before returning to Philadelphia to work at WWDB FM.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from American University.
