All About Leon Edwards Brother Fabian: MMA Record, Age and More

Leon Edwards is set to take on Colby Covington on December 16 at UFC 296. Even though Leon Edwards has the welterweight strap, people considered Covington the second-best fighter in the division next to Kamaru Usman. So if Leon Edwards beats Covington, he will cement himself as the best fighter in the welterweight division. Leon will have his trusted team accompany him to enemy territory. That will consist of a familiar face always in Edward’s corner.

And he is none other than Fabian ‘The Assassin’ Edwards, the brother of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. The Jamaican British fights in the middleweight division of Bellator and is ranked No. 1 in his division. His ascent in Bellator is just as spectacular as Leon’s. Here’s a little more information about Fabian Edwards.

Fabian Edward’s career in MMA

Fabian Edwards was born on March 24, 1993, in Kingston, Jamaica. The Edwards family, however, moved to Birmingham, England, when they were young, in search of a better life. As Leon Edwards was already making his name in the MMA world, Fabian Edwards took no time to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

Fabian Edwards had a perfect record in his amateur career, with 10 fights and 10 wins. He made his professional debut in 2017, where he won his first match with a flying knee, which led to the start of an impressive 9-fight win streak. However, the streak would end against Costello van Steenis via a split decision in a competitive back-and-forth fight. This would be followed by another loss against Austin Vanderford.

‘The Assassin’ would bounce back after a year layoff with an impressive win against former UFC champ Lyoto Machida with a devastating left hook. He would go on to win his next two fights, securing a fight for the Bellator welterweight strap against Johnny Eblen at Bellator 299. He would come up short, as Eblen would finish Edwards in the third round via TKO. However, that wouldn’t be the end, as things would heat up between Johnny Eblen and Leon Edwards after the fight.

Despite the loss, Fabian does not seem discouraged. He claims that he will come back stronger and is aiming for a rematch against Johnny Eblen, the only man who finished him inside the cage. But right now, the Bellator middleweight is fully focused on Leon Edwards’ fight against Colby Covington. Fellow countryman and UFC interim champion Tom Aspinall chimed in to pick his favorite for the Covington vs. Edwards fight.

Tom Aspinall chimes in to pick his winner

In a recent interview with “All Out Fighting,” Tom Aspinall picked his winner for the Edwards and Covington fight at UFC 296. He believes that Leon Edwards would be too smart for Covington and would lay traps to finish the job. When asked if Edwards could win against Covington, Aspinall stated, “Yeah, I think, I definitely think he can win. I definitely think he’s going to win. I think that Leon is – he’s just a slick operator, man. He just fights with his brain which is great, like I think that’s amazing.”

Leon Edwards is undeniably one of the most well-rounded fighters in the welterweight division. However, he is going up against the best-pressure wrestler in the division. If Leon can pull off this win, he will be up in “the best welterweight” conversation with Kamaru Usman and George Saint Pierre.

Does Leon Edwards have what it takes to stop the wrestling of Colby Covington? Or will he crumble under the pressure of Covington’s incredible gas tank? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
