The good mixer: umeshu sour cocktail recipe
A light, refreshing, low-alcohol drink that’s perfect for a hot summer’s day
Cocktails don’t have to blow your head off – umeshu sake, made from plums, is usually around 12-14% abv, and makes a great refreshing, low-alcohol pre-summer dinner snifter. It’s dead simple, too. Per serving:
80ml umeshu sake
35ml lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup (50% water: 50% sugar)
15ml egg white
1 lemon wedge and 1 cherry, to garnish
Put everything except the garnish in a cocktail shaker, add cubed ice and shake for a good 10 seconds. Strain into a large rocks glass over ice cubes, garnish and drink.
