What is the 369 Method from TikTok? How to Practice Manifestation

If you’ve been on TikTok recently (honestly, who hasn’t? It’s a goldmine), you’ve probably seen chatter about manifestation, namely the 369 manifestation method.

In fact, the #369method hashtag has surpassed 112.5 million views on the video sharing app, with users sharing how the method works for them. But WTF is it?

“369 manifestation is a popular way to manifest desires and set goals,” Antonia Harman, renowned healer and founder of divineempowerment.co.uk tells GLAMOUR.

“Three is a significant numerology number; it directly connects us to universal source energy, the holy trinity. Six represents internal strength, finance and the material world. Nine; love, faith enlightenment, and alleviating self-doubt. Tapping into these unique numbers gives manifesting a boost.”

Antonia adds that the 369 method is trending at the moment because of “how successfully it works”.

“Results are achieved by setting clear intentions and inviting in your heart's desires; you order what you want from the universe,” she says.

The 369 method is not all too dissimilar to The Secret, the manifesting method Gen X and older millennials became obsessed with in the 2010s, which is based on the Law of Attraction.

“There are a lot of similarities between the 369 method and The Secret,” Bex Milford (@cosmic_cures) an astrologer, female empowerment coach, crystal healer and founder of the Moon Child Sorority says.

“They work in very similar ways – both are founded on the principle that where we put our thoughts and attention is reflected in our everyday lives. We can mould the reality we choose, attract our desires and live the life we dream of by putting our attention on these things and trusting that we already have them. The 369 method uses the power of numerology – the belief that certain numbers have specific powers – to ‘supercharge’ and give structure to the manifestation process.”

Bex believes that manifestation has become popular with millennials and Gen Z, particularly social media dwellers, due to the ‘uncertainty’ of the world we’re living in.

“It offers a chance to take back control of our lives and have some authority over our future in a world that is, currently, full of chaos,” she adds.

Unsah Malik, social media and influence expert agrees and says that because we have been confined to our homes during the pandemic, we’ve sought out positivity via social media instead.

She continues: “Since manifestation TikTok is more positive (whether you agree with it or not) in that it promotes feeling better about yourself in order to attract a better life, it feels like a safer space to be within.”

What is manifestation?

“Manifestation is the process of changing our whole reality just by the power of where we put our thoughts,” Bex explains. “Think of the phrase ‘where attention goes, energy flows’ – this is the basic principle of manifestation.”

If you want to dig deeper, manifestation plays on the idea that our entire universe is created from energy and if we focus our thoughts - which Bex says are “waves of energy” - on something in particular, we can change the frequency of the universe to provide us with what we want.

“The key to manifestation is when we focus our attention on what we want and then charge this with an intention - it results in a clear vision that we want the outcome to be,” Bex adds.

Gratitude and trust is also a crucial part of manifestation. “When you have asked the universe for what you want, you then cultivate a deep gratitude and joy for this eventuality, even though you haven’t got it yet,” Bex says.

“It’s saying ‘thank you’ in the same way you’d say thank you to a waiter after giving them your order in a restaurant. You haven’t got the food yet, but you trust it’s coming. You don’t sit there worrying or becoming anxious it won’t arrive. Neither do you order but then assume that what you want isn’t attainable. You sit back and enjoy yourself, feeling at peace because you trust the process. This is exactly the same with manifestation.”

How can you practice the 369 manifestation method?

Right, so now that we’ve mastered the basics, how does the 369 method tie in? While there are two options to choose from, the first thing you’ve got to do is set clear intentions.

“What is it that you wish to manifest? Is it a relationship, pay rise or something material? Once you have a clear vision of your desire, write it down three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon and nine times at night. This ritual should continue for 45 days,” Antonia says.

“Another way the 369 method can be used is to write the name of what you want three times, write the intention six times and write the action nine times. The more specific you are with your choices, the better. You can end with some positive affirmations such as ‘I am loved, I am worthy, I am a magnet for abundance’.”

What can you expect to manifest with the 369 method?

“As with any new technique, start small and build from there,” Antonia advises. “You may be able to manifest your dream job or relationship in time; however, start with something close by and relatively easy to achieve. Manifesting is like a muscle; you need to grow it over time.”

Bex adds that the more specific you are with your manifestation, the better.

“You can manifest anything you desire, as long as you truly believe it is possible,” she continues. “For example, writing down that you want to manifest an Oscar even though you haven’t even taken acting classes yet will only work if you truly believe it is possible as you are writing it down. If you write out your manifestations while thinking ‘there’s no way this will happen!’ that’s the same as ordering in the restaurant then chasing after the waiter to cancel your dish.”

It’s also best to only write positive manifestations, so instead of writing “I don’t want to be single” write something along the lines of “I feel love for myself, and worthy of love, and am ready to share this love in a relationship”.

What should beginners know about manifestation?

As well as practicing gratitude, if you’re a novice manifester Antonia says the key is to think of the situation as if it is already yours - using language like ‘I have’ rather than ‘I want’.

“‘I want’ keeps your dreams in the perpetual future. My favourite manifesting technique is to reminisce about future memories. Literally, daydream it into reality, going into as many details as possible,” Antonia adds.

“Avoid micromanaging the situation; how it comes is less critical than it coming. The ‘how’ is often such a curveball you would never have anticipated. It’s also vital that you let it go. Do all the steps, then forget about it, give it time to happen. Worrying about it will block you. Always manifest when you are feeling cool, calm and collected, as opposed to anxious. You could manifest first thing in the morning, after meditation or optimally from an ‘In Love’ headspace. The gooier you are, the better the chance of success, so think of a person or pet that makes you feel happy and joyful.”

The key to manifesting really is just to have a bit of fun. It also encourages you to think positively which will give you a sunnier outlook on life in general, and who doesn’t want that?
